Introduction to Littleborough’s History

This, the latest version of the website, contains new pages with additional information some still being developed. It does not contain fancy artworks or gimmicks, there are other places for that, its purpose is to provide a broad history of Littleborough.

Due to space limitations, where necessary, the website points the way to books and booklets which probably provide the detail you are after.

Extractive industries - carried out over many years (from as early as the 14th C) often with poor working conditions digging the earth for Coal and Clay. However, enabled Brick and Tiles to be manufactured improving living standards.

Natural product related Industries - including Abattoir, Fellmongering, the Tannery and a Glue Works.
