TEXTILES
The Rochdale area was well known for its Flannels. Cotton’s introduction brought Flannelette, a material which was derided by the Flannel producers. However, over time, cotton overtook woollens as the mainstay of the Rochdale Area. In Littleborough Cotton became the more important textile but the Law;s mills stayed with Wool and were extremely profitable.
